Museums, Galleries and heritage sites are uniquely placed in their potential to offer inspiring and hands on learning experiences for learners of any and every age. I have a experience in developing successful learning programmes for visitors aged 0+ onwards, as well as catering for individuals and groups with additional access needs. I can support venues with researching audiences/potential learners requirements, evaluating current programmes and developing strategic plans to most effectively engage with target groups. In addition, I can create and deliver brand new activities, resources and bespoke projects as part of learning programme at your venue.
Engaging with Schools
Key to successfully engaging with schools is to create memorable and informative learning experiences for pupils on cultural visits. As a secondary school teacher and with ten years managing a successful and growing school service at York Museums Trust I have a strong understanding of formal education and can work with you to build your school programme. Services include consultation with teachers, redeveloping existing offers, creating new bespoke sessions and resources, training staff and volunteers, delivering teacher CPD and managing bespoke educational projects.
Visitor Interpretation & Exhibitions
Revealing the stories behind objects and historic venues requires an audience focused approach to create appealing and accessible interpretation and exhibitions. Over the last 15 years I have worked with a wide range of subjects and collection areas. I can provide effective project management, interpretative planning, research, text writing, facilitation of community curated displays, visitor interactives and digital/pnline content development.
